The Threat Ignored

CHIKUGUNYA

Chikungunya is a viral disease that causes infection in humans. First identified in Tanzania in 1952, it belongs to the Alphavirus genus of the Togaviridae family. Chikungunya infection presents with flu-like symptoms such as sudden onset of fever, severe joint pain, muscle pain, headache, fatigue, and skin rash. In elderly individuals and those with underlying health conditions, joint pain can persist for weeks or even months.

The virus is transmitted to humans through the bite of infected Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes. It does not spread directly from person to person; rather, an infected mosquito can transmit the virus to others through subsequent bites. Chikungunya is more common in tropical and subtropical regions and tends to surge during rainy seasons and warmer months.

There is currently no specific antiviral treatment for Chikungunya. Management focuses on relieving symptoms, typically through the use of pain relievers, antipyretics, and adequate fluid intake. Preventive measures are critical and include avoiding mosquito bites by using repellents, wearing protective clothing, and eliminating stagnant water sources where mosquitoes breed.

CHIKUGUNYA PCR Test

VISION HUMAN CHIKUNGUNYA DETECTION KIT includes a specially formulated, ready-to-use system for the detection of Human Chikungunya Virus using real-time PCR instruments. This kit is an in vitro nucleic acid amplification test designed to detect specific viral nucleic acids in human-derived specimens such as throat/nasal exudates, bronchoalveolar lavage, or nasopharyngeal swab samples. It provides a reliable, rapid, and sensitive solution for clinical diagnostics of Chikungunya virus infections.

CHIKUGUNYA Rapid Antigen Test

VISION HUMAN CHIKUNGUNYA RAPID ANTIGEN TEST KIT offers a convenient and rapid solution for the qualitative detection of Chikungunya virus antigens in human samples. Designed for point-of-care use, this lateral flow immunoassay enables quick identification of active Chikungunya infections using specimens such as whole blood, serum, or plasma. The test provides visually interpretable results within minutes, making it ideal for clinical screening in both field and laboratory settings. Its high specificity and sensitivity make it a reliable tool for early diagnosis and outbreak control efforts.
